April 1991: Pittsburgh

The bases were loaded, and Andre Dawson came up to bat in the top of the ninth.  The Cubs were down 3-0.  I rocked back and forth on the couch and watched anxiously as Dawson dug in. 

“Wouldn’t it be awsome if he hit a grand slam?” I mused aloud.  As soon as I said it, I realized I was falling into my typical routine of willing my woeful team to win.  Continue reading

1984

Ok, so I know that the title is actually also to the name of a book.. but I’m going with it anyway. You see, 1984 was the year I was born.. and those of you who know your Cubbie shtick, you know that the Cubs had an amazing ’84 season. Being born in the same year that they had that great of a year, I gotta admit.. I’m pretty dissapointed that my parents didn’t name me Ryne, Rick, Jody, Frey, or Leon. Seriously. They had a ridiculous amount of sweet names to go with.. and I get named after one of Jesus’ Disciples. Wtf. Continue reading
